Counseling and Psychological Services https://caps.ucsc.edu/  at the UC Santa Cruz Student Health Services invites applications for several Postdoctoral Clinical Trainee positions. 

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UC Santa Cruz provides a variety of services to diverse UCSC undergraduate and graduate students, including brief individual therapy, psychiatry services, crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, case management, outreach and educational programming, referrals, and consultation. https://caps.ucsc.edu/training/postdoctoral/

Postdoctoral Clinical Trainees will be expected to conduct brief individual therapy, crisis intervention, case management, group psychotherapy, assessment, consultation, and primary prevention and outreach for university students.  UCSC welcomes applications from outstanding candidates interested in providing mental health services in a fast-paced university counseling center.

There are 2 positions open for the 2026-2027 academic year with two areas of focus available.

  • Trauma Focus (1): Focus on general clinical service delivery with special emphasis on working with students who have experienced interpersonal trauma and DBT training

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program
  • Completion of an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Doctoral Internship
  • Experience and skills in brief therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy
  • Experience and skills in mental health outreach and psychoeducation for a college student population
  • Skills and experience working with a diverse population
  • TRAUMA FOCUS (additional): Experience and interest in providing services to individuals who have experienced interpersonal trauma

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful completion of a criminal history background check 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a university counseling center; demonstrated strong interest and commitment to social justice. Interest in ADHD assessment. 

 
COMPENSATION

SALARY and BENEFITS: $74,880 annually; Medical benefits, paid sick leave and holidays in accordance with university policies, and two weeks approved leave.
