POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provides mental health counseling as well as crisis intervention to individuals, couples, and groups. Assesses clients, creates care plans, and provides treatment services and referrals. Provides outreach presentations for students, faculty, and staff members about counseling services, programs, professional development topics, and related issues. Provides adjunct supervision of psychology and counseling practicum students. Offers consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents. During times of high student need, flexes schedule to provide additional clinical services including appointments, outreach, crisis response, and other duties as required. Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of counseling services in accordance with State of Texas licensure requirements and departmental policies. Engages in counseling?related activities including making referrals and managing organizational and administrative aspects of counseling cases. Provides adjunct support and/or training seminars for trainees. Consults with licensed professionals when managing complex and/or crisis situations and seeks appropriate consultation to best support students. Participates in continuing education and professional development activities as required by state licensure to maintain skills and professional competency. Maintains currency of practice through review of professional literature, participation in organizational research and evaluation activities, and shares relevant information with peers. Provides professional presentations as appropriate.
