POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position assists with the development, oversight, and management of clinical services of the Counseling Center in association with the Associate Director for Clinical Services and other administrative team members. Considered essential staff, this position is expected to assist with the development of Center policy and programs, supervise clinical staff and graduate trainees, and represents the Center to the USF community and at local, state and national professional forums.
Special Skills or Training: Exceptional clinical skills. Supervising clinical staff and graduate trainees. Knowledge of collegiate mental health program operations.
- 30%: Provides counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups presenting with a range of psychological concerns. Assesses presenting concerns through the center's triage process. Provides crisis intervention at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, including involuntary hospitalization, USF community consultation, and post-traumatic debriefing. Utilizes assessment data as needed for clinical or educational purposes. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- 25%: Clinical Services Administration: assists with the development and maintenance of clinical procedures to ensure adherence to best practices, applicable state and federal statutes, local health and safety laws and regulations, Student Success risk management policies, and professional codes of ethics. Coordinates the Center's group counseling program, including the promotion of a group counseling culture, maintaining the group counseling schedule, and coordinating group counseling training for clinicians and trainees.
- 20%: Clinical Services Operations: assists in managing clinical services to ensure that clinicians' scheduling and productivity expectations are met, clinical wait times are minimized, clinical services are appropriately provided, and clinical documentation is completed in accordance with established procedures. Responds to clinical services issues as they arise. Responsible for supervision of clinical staff, including individual administrative supervision, overseeing clinical team meetings, and completing annual evaluations.
- 15%: Provides training in Counseling Center training programs consistent with credentials and experience. In coordination with other leadership team members, provides supervision to counselors-in-training, including individual supervision and completing annual evaluations. Works in coordination with other leadership team members to ensure all staff are properly trained.
- 5%: Serves on the Counseling Center leadership team along with the Director, Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, and Office Manager. Participates in Student Success leadership activities. Actively participates in professional associations and organizations according to degree, license, and role to remain current with innovations in provision of clinical services to university students.
- 5%: Performs other duties as assigned.
