Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) University Counseling Services (UCS) invites applications for one, one-year, full time, Advanced Mental Health Resident. This position will be housed at the Monroe Park Campus office location and may involve some evening hours. This position entails working with undergraduate, graduate, and health professional students. We are a dynamic center committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and invite applicants who share similar values. General duties include initial assessments, brief individual therapy, group therapy, crisis work, and consultation with university faculty and staff. Additional duties may include provision of supervision and outreach. Supervision by a licensed senior staff professional will be provided. Salary is $46,515 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The start date is August 10, 2026.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must have earned either: a doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology, or a master’s degree in social work by start date, as well as completion of a supervised clinical internship or work equivalent experience. Psychology applicants must have graduated from APA-accredited programs and have completed APA- accredited internships. ABD candidates will be considered. Additionally, the position requires evidence of strong clinical skills, excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication, the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary counseling center team, and demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence. Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
